The Last of Us Part II State of Play comes to us showing new gameplay footage and a deep drive into Naughty Dog’s highly anticipated game. The VP of Naughty Dog and director of The Last of Us Part II, Neil Druckmann, takes us through more gameplay, goes over new additions from the first game and shows us never seen-before scenes of the game.
Landscape of the game expands over multiple seasons and climates. Each area has unique interior and exterior environments for players to navigate, explore and use for their advantage. Using their new iteration of their Naughty Dog gaming engine, their goal was to make the game’s environment beautiful, yet feel grounded and authentic to the places they were based.
Ellie was given an added set of new abilities to help her navigate the environments and potential threats. The abilities to climb and jump over gaps; or use ropes to scale and swing over obstacles. She is also able to use a work bench to modify and enhance weapons, which also shows in game the modification.
Ellie is met with a conflict war between the militia group Washington Liberation Front (WLF) and the religious zealot group Seraphites also known as Scars fighting over territors and resources. All the while the Infected is still another worry.
With the game being release in a few weeks, Druckmann mentioned what was shown during the State of Play was only a small portion of the game and expect a lot more.
