Jim Ryan, President & CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, announced today (April 19, 2021) on the official PlayStation Blog they are reversing the decision for closing the digital stores of PS3 and PS Vita. However PSP commerce functionality will still be retiring on July 2, 2021. You can view the official blog post here.
In our previous article, Sony announced important changes to the PS3, PS Vita and PSP digital stores: closing of the PS3, PS Vita and PSP digital stores on July 2, 2021 for PS3 and on August 27, 2021 for PS Vita and PSP.
Ryan states: “Upon further reflection, however, it’s clear that we made the wrong decision here. […]. We see now that many of you are incredibly passionate about being able to continue purchasing classic games on PS3 and PS Vita for the foreseeable future, so I’m glad we were able to find a solution to continue operations.”
